Tempura Yukimura
I found this restaurant while researching our Tokyo trip in November 2025. That trip was as magical as you’d expect, but I’ll save that for another post.
Their Instagram is entirely in Japanese. No reservations. Limited opening hours. On the Michelin Guide. Of course we had to go.
We got there at 12:15. It closed at 1:00 that day, and we queued for 25 minutes. My husband was ready to leave. Then suddenly, we were in.
The restaurant seats maybe 20 people. One chef handling the tempura with complete focus. Two assistants working quietly in the background. And a woman, who I assume is his wife, taking orders, mostly by pointing at the menu, and collecting payment. Cash only.
I can’t properly describe how good the food was.
I ordered the miso soup. Incredible. Then the best-seller, kakiage don. Fried shrimp tempura over fluffy rice, finished with a rich sauce.
Simple. But so good.
If you’re in Tokyo and want something real, not touristy, not overdone, just honest food, go to Tempura Yukimura (Google pin here).
