Colorful Asian Salad

This salad is amazing.  It also requires a lot of ingredients so unfortunately I don't make it as often as I want to - mainly because I have no time for ingredient-rich recipes.

However, every once in a while I crave it and after making it I realize - I should make this more often.  It is a recipe I found on the Pioneer Woman (original recipe here) and even she claims it to be her all-time favorite.  Frankly, I don't blame her.

Mac and a whole lotta cheese

The definition of comfort food - mac'n'cheese.  It is an undeniable crowd pleaser.  Young and old - you can't go wrong.  It's so easy to make and you are almost 100% guaranteed to have all the ingredients in your fridge/pantry.

I make this regularly for my kids - the ingredients are all fresh and healthy and the milk and cheese combined serve up a hefty portion of calcium.

A trip with a nerd

I love surprises.

I hate surprises.

I love surprises when they are gifts, parties, calls, or visits.

And I absolutely hate surprises when I am shocked at how much (or little) is left from a travel budget when I am away.  Careful planning is so essential.  Not only by keeping receipts during your trip and calculating your expenses, but actually pre-planning MONTHS in advance.  That takes patience.  And guts.

Enter the nerd.

Sugar Cookies for my Lil Sugar Cookie

Quality time with those you love is good for the soul.  It's air to your lungs.  It's your lifeline.  My kids are no exception.  I miss them when I'm not with them and when I am........ I want to run screamin'.  I kid.  No I don't.  Yes I do.  I love them to bits.

And my definition of quality time doesn't necessarily mean the same thing to my daughter - who's 4 and a half going on 16.  You would think a trip to the nail lounge would make her happy but no.  When I asked her what she wanted to do, she answered: "I want to make cookies Mama and decorate them with pink sprinkles." Bless her.

We forgot The Body Shop

I think, in the midst of all the new brands each carrying one promise or another, causing frenzies and out-of-stock frustration, we have gravitated away from what is classic.  And familiar.

We have forgotten about The Body Shop.  Well, at least I have.

How can we forget the place that introduced us to the death-beige-lipstick and just-had-beetroot-red (aka 01 and 02)?  The days when it was one of the few places in Bahrain that stocked good shampoos and showergels (back to the Sheraton days).  Every birthday gift was a Body Shop basket filled with goodies and those little bath balls that were never used.  Disclaimer: If you were born in the 90s and beyond you will not relate to this.

So if The Body Shop has been around for this long, and keeps introducing new lines and renovating its product line, aaand it is actively helping the planet by supporting fair trade, against animal testing, and supports other important causes like HIV, reforestation, supports impoverished countries...etc, I figured: why not? It has to be that good.
