Simply Scrumptious Strawberry Salad

Strawberry salad is so refreshingly delicious I am surprised that only a few restaurants around Bahrain offer it.  Cafe Lilou offered it in their Christmas menu recently and I loved it. Coco's also offer it and again, it is extremely tasty.

I was invited to a barbeque last night and wanted to whip up something different and quick.  I had some strawberries in my fridge and with their ridiculous short shelf-life I figured let me use them before they go bad.  And boy was that a delectable decision!

The recipe is my own and was inspired by so many salads I have tasted - caramelized almonds, tangy dressing, salty grilled halloumi....sigh.

Making this Simply Scrumptious Strawberry Salad is so easy and the compliments will be nonstop.

How to Ask for the Perfect Mani

The number of specialty mani/pedi spas popping up around the island is increasing and it is now possible to get a great manicure at a spa that is within 10 minutes of where you live.  But even with the increase in numbers, sometimes the quality is just - mediocre.  The place is impeccable, the service great - but they skimp out on basic steps that really make a difference to the overall service.

Being a previous owner of a nail spa, I was very focused on making sure the little details were taken care of so that the manicure looks good not today, but still looks good in three days.  Shiny, neat, and chip/peel-free.
This manicure is 1 week old.

Picky-Eaters-Proof-Everybody-Wants-A-Piece-Of-This-Can't-Go-Wrong Meatballs

We are all busy with one thing or another.  There's never enough hours in the day, and eating take-out has become common.  Which is sad.  But it's also convenient.  Convenience is king.  But cooking a home-cooked meal for your kids is priceless.

Welcome to the constant guilt-struggle of a working mom.  Or any mom with young kids.  Or any human for that matter - we are all just so busy.

This dish I'm about to share with you is guaranteed to be gobbled up  with no leftovers for the next day.  Believe you me.

My brownies

My brownies are to-die-for.

They get requested before I even get invited to the dinner/party.  I don't mind.  It's flattering.  And if this sounds like self-praise then so be it.  You'll have to try them to see what I mean.  And here's how.

Another (mini) DIY Project: A flutter in Sama's Room

This is a short but very effective DIY post.

I recently redid Sama's room.  She is no longer a toddler (insert broken heart here) and so she needs a room fit for the princess that she is.  The bed is classic slash cottage-chic but the wall behind her was bare.  I would have loved to set up a veil-like canopy that drapes from the ceiling onto her bed but getting that cleaned is not my piece of cake plus the amount of dust/germs it would accumulate...well,  you catch my drift.

Very first DIY Post: Empty wall begone!

If you are anything like me - you would always view ANY EMPTY space as an opportunity to fill it up.  I am no hoarder but I like to 'efficiently utilize' any space - be it an empty wall, a underutilized shelf, a lonely drawer.  My hands itch and my mind is consumed with how I can fill that emptiness as I go online to get inspired.

Bubble-Gum Pink

I don't know about you (my female readers), but a manicure has an immediate affect on my mood and lifts my spirit up in about 2 seconds flat.

I heard about a new product in town - nail gurus Trind have graced Bahrain with their presence and Dessange is one of the salons that stocks up on these products as well as use them in their treatments.

Being a mani-fanatic myself I decided to try out this newcomer and see where it racks up against popular giants like OPI, Essie and CND.

Here we go!

A Review & Some Words of Wisdom

Sometimes, the little things tend to have the biggest impact.
Like for instance, watching a funny movie that you randomly find as you channel surf...after a long and stressful day at work.  Or for example, drinking a soothing cup of tea on your porch as a gentle breeze sways your trees and your kids happen to be in the park...and all you hear is...silence.
